Cadance Academy has always believed in creating a space for everyone to express themselves in a comfortable caring environment. Acceptance and inclusion for all has been a priority. In keeping with these beliefs, in 2021 Cadance's director, Gaea Jess, was able to make a change in what is allowed in the CDTA Ballet exams. The rules have usually been fairly rigid regarding expectations for students taking these exams in previous years.

For CDTA examinations students may choose to enter exams as presenting the male work or the female work regardless of their gender. Students have the choice to wear either of the two recommended uniforms for exams regardless of their gender. For example, a student could enter an exam wearing traditionally male attire but perform female work and vice versa. However, the examiner must be made aware of this prior to the examination.
