Intro Contemporary

OVERVIEW

Based on the body’s response to gravity, contemporary uses the torso and head to guide movement. Basic principles of fall/rebound are explored in seated, standing and travelling work. Personal style and freedom to explore a dynamic range of movement are strongly encouraged. Improvisation is also explored to discover the dancer’s true movement. Contemporary is a great class for students that want to move in a more grounded way. Ballet training is strongly recommended to improve technique.

Attire:  Body suits or fitted clothing, footless leggings or tights, bare feet.
